Welcome To NewFreeTemplates.com Photoshop Tutorials Area - Stow-on the-Wold

| Our image was taken at Stow-on-the-Wold in the Cotswold's using the
Nikon Coolpix 990. Using the cottages and the old car it would be nice to
give our image an old worldy look to it. |

| To remove any distractions from our image we call up the layers pallet
Window >Show Layers or press F7 on the keyboard and
create a New Empty layer by clicking on the New Layer Icon.
Tip…holding down the Alt
key while clicking the tab will enable us to rename our layer as we are
adding it.(fig 1) |
fig 2 fig 3
| Select our Cloning tool or Rubber stamp(short cut S)
from our tool box. Double clicking on the cloning tool brings up the
Rubber Stamp Options box. Make sure we tick the 'Use all Layers
and Aligned' this will enable us to use the clone tool on our new
layer. (fig 2) One of the benefits of cloning onto a new empty layer is
that it does not increase our file size.(fig 3). |
fig 4
| At this stage we could flatten our image, or if we choose to continue
working in layers create a New Empty layer above our cloning layer.
Under the layers palette select Merge Visible from the menu and
hold down our Alt key. This will copy all our visible layers into
one new layer (fig4) |
fig 5 fig 6
| We now duplicate our new layer by dragging it over the centre icon of
our layers palette and from the menu bar choose Filter > Stylize
> Find Edges (fig5). To add a sepia tone to our find edges - click
on Image > Adjust Hue/Saturation or shortcut Ctrl U. Tick
the colorize box and set the Hue slider to 25 and the Saturation to around
30.(fig6) |
fig 7 fig 8
| In our layer palette choose Soft Lights from the Blend
Mode. Try experimenting with the Opacity, but for our image 100% was
used (fig7). From the top corner of our layers palette select New
Adjustment layer option . We can choose from a variety of options for our
image, Brightness /Contrast was set to -3 and +7 and the
Hue/Saturation -3 and +11. The big advantage in using Adjustment
layers is that they can be saved (as a PSD). Later simply by clicking on
these layers we can make further adjustments or even delete the adjustment
layer altogether (fig8). |
fig 9
| Our layers can once again be combined using the Alt +
Merge Visible to a new layer (fig 9). Try adding some texture
Filter > Texture > Texturizer and select C >Programme File
>Adobe > Photoshop > Goodies >Textures and choose Bumpy
Leather to finish our image off. Our new image can now be
saved. |
